Though Umroi Airport is only 35 km from Shillong, we recommend you fly in from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Guwahati (128 km from Shillong) because of more extensive flight schedules. Guwahati is well connected to most important airports in India, Bangladesh and Nepal by regular flights. MTC buses, shared cabs and private taxis are available for the approximately four-hour drive down NH 40 from Guwahati to Shillong.

BY ROAD
Daily bus services up and down National Highway 40 are available from Guwahati to Shillong by Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) as well as private bus and taxi operators.
*Note: while Meghalaya is not directly connected by rail, you can reach Guwahati via train and take a bus or taxi from Guwahati Railway Station (105 km from Shillong).
